Town life is more fashionable than country life. People are choosing to buy townhouses in top commuter towns rather than village houses because they want to save on petrol, stay close to shops, be able to meet friends for coffee. The cappuccino culture is being felt way beyond London.
What is the evidence? House prices in town centres have increased more than rural prices in the last year. Estate agents Hamptons International has also noticed over the same period that it has seen a 20% increase in house hunters opting for pretty market towns. They can have good countryside on the doorstep and commute back to London for work and feel they have the best of all worlds.
