Shalford
SHALFORD is a one-street village of period houses and cottages with a green. Parking is easier at the small station here than in Guildford. Two-bedroom Victorian terraced houses start at £200,000. Five- or six-bedroom houses can cost £600,000 or more. Shalford Mill, an 18th-century timber-framed and tile-hung watermill on the River Tillingbourne, was given to the National Trust in 1932 by a group of anonymous donors known as ‘Ferguson’s Gang’.
Good for: small station where it is easier to park than Guildford.
