Grateley

GRATELEY proper is an old-fashioned farming village. Many of the period properties have been in the same families for years and few come on to the market. You could pay £170,000 for a two-bedroom, Victorian, slate-roofed terraced house; over £300,000 for a four-bedroom period house if you were lucky. The Andover side of the village is best. There is a newer area of development around the station, where there are starter homes and council houses. To the south, Over, Middle and Nether Wallop are attractive villages with period properties, but surrounded by a sea of post-war council estates. A four-bedroom, white-washed thatched cottage at Nether Wallop will cost £400,000.
