CHESTFIELD & SWALECLIFFE There is a bit of snob value attached to Chestfield. It is a cut above the seaside tat, thinks of itself as a village and has a private golf club, but is very close to the A299 dual carriageway. There are some very large period houses that sell for over £550,000. Between these are new developments or individually built modern houses on small plots. On the Churchwood Park estate, family houses sell from just under £300,000 to £400,000. The village also has some properties for first-time buyers. Expect to pay around £120,000 for one-bedroom starter homes. Chestfield now spills over into Swalecliffe which has lots of ex-council houses in the £140,000 range. It also has a primary school.

Good for: being rather smart, close to good grammar schools, all the fun of Whitsable nearby.
