SHEPRETH The feature of Shepreth village centre is a stream with two old mills on its banks. There are some pretty thatched cottages and several modern closes built in the late Sixties and Seventies. The village has a shop-cum-post-office, a Montessori school, two trout farms and the Shepreth Wildlife Park nature reserve and one of the country’s only insect research laboratories. The houses tend to be larger than those in Meldreth – those backing on to open fields in Frog End are probably the best for views though worst for being close to the shops. Two-bedroom cottages start at around £170,000 while four-bedroom detached houses cost from £310,000 upwards. Annual village events include a horticultural show, harvest festival and the Shepreth festival of arts and crafts. Several artists live in the locality.
