Nutfield
NUTFIELD is little more than a ribbon village that has grown up along the A25, with the pedigree of a 13th-century church off the High Street. It offers an active social life, including two cricket clubs and a football club. You can buy a three-bedroom semi for £250,000. A new four-bedroom detached house could cost £350,000 upwards. South Nutfield (where Nutfield station is situated) has a school, an award-winning general store-cum-post office and the local watering hole is the Station Hotel. A turn-of-the-century semi might cost £240,000; a five-bedroom period house with an acre of land, £750,000 upwards. The most exclusive address is The Avenue.
Good for: M25, M23, Gatwick Airport.
