Polegate
POLEGATE is really the outer rim of Eastbourne. It is a village that billowed during the Thirties and again in the Eighties. The single High Street has everything from a greengrocer to a hairdresser. Thirties’ and Fifties’ semis sell at £160,000 to £180,000. It is very popular because of the station. A one-bedroom flat can cost £90,000, a two-bedroom flat from £110,000. Polegate sprawls in its egalitarian way towards Hampden Park, and there is no distinct division between the two.
