Great Chesterford
GREAT CHESTERFORD and Little Chesterford are both extremely prestigious, having a very popular primary school and being close enough to Cambridge to attract people who work there. The River Cam tiptoes through both, and in Great Chesterford it is overlooked by a large watermill converted into flats. The village has a thriving post-office/shop, two pubs and a hotel, and a small industrial sector providing employment. A four-bedroom Grade II listed cottage will cost £500,000. Hadstock, to the east, is a pretty village with thatched cottages around a green, but it is less expensive.
Good for: a good address inside the Cambridge halo.
