Stanford-le-Hope
STANFORD-LE-HOPE There are a few late 19th-century streets near the station but otherwise most of Stanford-Le-Hope is an eruption of low-cost Sixties’ housing that gathered around Corringham and Coryton as far as the big oil refineries on the edge of the Thames. Plans have been approved for a container port near Coryton and the area is expected to swallow a lot of new Thames Gateway housing. Three-bedroom semis are priced at about £180,000 to £220,000, standard four-bedroom detached houses at £300,000, with the most expensive in the range selling for about £380,000 to £480,000.
From here people might prefer to travel by rail up to Pitsea and change to the main line into Fenchurch Street, rather than take the slow and indirect route through Tilbury.
