Cholsey
CHOLSEY is sprawly, so the prices here are lower. Its main feature, a pretty village green edged with listed cottages, has to face down the parade of modern shops on the other side. The shops and post office are useful and there is a good primary school. The parish magazine carries six pages of clubs and activities to join, including the busy horticultural society, the Cholsey Silver band, and the Cholsey and Wallingford Steam Railway, which is run by volunteers. Agatha Christie is buried here. A three-bedroom house on a modern development would cost from £200,000.
